[ARCHIVED] Volunteers Harvested and Potted Wax Myrtles for Fall Projects

Wax Myrtle Potting August 20, 2013

Hampton Clean City Commission, Hampton Master Gardener, and Peninsula Master Naturalist volunteers harvested 120+ air-layered wax myrtles that were started last April. The wax myrtles will be used for plantings at Ridgway Park and Bethel Landfill this fall. The harvesting took place August 19th, and the potting took place on August 20th.

Special thanks goes to Sandy Bottom Nature Park, who allowed volunteers to air layer wax myrtles last April, and to the Hampton Master Gardeners for providing TLC until they are planted.

Participants in the projects include: Amelia Flannery, Walter Hale (both), Latarsha Johnson, Jeanne Macomber (both), Beverly Nunnally, Marie Smith (both), Debbie Swanson (both), Megan Tierney, and Debbie Blanton.

To find out about upcoming planting projects, contact hccc@hampton.gov or get on the HCCC email list at http://www.hampton.gov/FormCenter/Hampton-Boards-Commissions--Committees-5/Hampton-Clean-City-Commission-EMail-List-97.
