March 2, 2018 - The National Weather Service says wind gusts from an offshore nor'easter could get as high as 60 mph Friday afternoon, and aren't expected to fall below 50 mph until after 5-6 a.m. Saturday.

Flooding, meanwhile,  is expected to be minor for most low-lying areas of the city. Tide gauge predictions call for high tide at about 4.9 feet Saturday morning, 5.3 feet Saturday night and 5.4 feet Sunday morning.

Hampton has had minor issues with downed power lines and trees caused by the nor'easter.  By mid-morning Friday Public Works and Parks crews had responded to about 10 downed trees on streets or blocking drainage ditches, with more expected as winds continue. Between 175-260 households were without power Friday morning, with more outages likely as high winds continue into the weekend. 

The Office of Emergency Management said iIncreased risk from fire is heightened today and will last through tomorrow – with winds gusts of 35 mph expected throughout tomorrow.  Emergency Management will continue to monitor this event and related issues and provide updates as appropriate.
