[ARCHIVED] Nominate a person or group that's making a difference in Hampton's diversity

Unity Commission 2017

March 7, 2018 - If you know an individual, group or organization that has made a difference in Hampton's diversity, take the time to nominate them for a 2018 Unity Award from the Citizens' Unity Commission.

Created in 2000, the awards recognize people, initiatives and organizations that have had a positive impact on diversity and inclusion in Hampton. Past winners have included religious leaders, a local franchise expert who works with police, and a non-profit that works with the homeless. Go online to complete the nomination form. The deadline is May 1.

For more information on the awards, visit http://www.hampton.gov/2284/Unity-Awards.  Winners will be honored at the annual Unity Awards Celebration on Friday, June 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Hampton's American Theatre. The celebration is free and open to the public, but requires an RSVP by calling the Citizen Contact Center at 3-1-1 from a landline or 757-727-8311 from your cellphone.

The Citizens' Unity Commission works to make sure  Hampton  is welcoming, supportive, and inclusive of all citizens, regardless of race, color, class, religion, age disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
