[ARCHIVED] Paralympic sport of Boccia comes to Fort Monroe Community Center April 28

Boccia,_London_2012

April 24, 2018 - The Fort Monroe Community Center, 100 Stilwell Dr., will host a Boccia clinic and tournament on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Boccia is one of the fast growing Paralympic sports in the U.S. It is designed for individuals with physical or neurological disabilities (stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, etc) and is played on an indoor court using balls made of leather that can be thrown, rolled, or put in play using a ramp. USA Boccia is working with local organizations and the Veterans Administration to develop Boccia programs nationwide.

The clinic April 28 is free and open to veterans, community schools and recreational programs. Learn basic rules of play, practice your skills, and develop strategy. For more information about the clinic contact Andy Pai at 719-660-9887 or andrewpai857@yahoo.com; or Linda Gomez at 321-960-2788, or getset4all@gmail.com.
