May 18, 2018 - Hampton Roads Transit bus line 118 will change its route, no longer entering Langley Air Force Base, beginning Sunday, May 20. The adjustments means that bus riders who do not have military clearance will no longer have to get off the bus, cross the street and wait for the bus to return from the base.
Military members and contractors who use the bus to get to the base can use stops at Armistead Avenue between Warehouse Road and Potter Lane, and Armistead and Nettles Lane, which are near the Armistead/West Gate.
Route 118 originates in downtown Hampton at the HRT Transit Center, running up LaSalle Avenue to North Armistead to Mercury to Coliseum Square. From there it goes to Sentara Careplex and Thomas Nelson Community College, then back on Armistead (now not entering Langley Air Force Base) and on to NASA Langley Research Center.
One other change is that the bus will use Hampton Roads Center Parkway instead of Butler Farm Road after Thomas Nelson between Magruder and Armistead, which allows for a stop at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. For more information, visit gohrt.com
