[ARCHIVED] Free weekend shuttle service will be available at Buckroe Beach through Labor Day

May 25, 2018 - Starting this weekend and continuing through Labor Day weekend, the city will offer free shuttle service for visitors to Buckroe Beach. While the park and nearby fishing pier offer more than 580 free parking spaces - which are sufficient for the weekday - busy summer weekends call for more.

Overflow parking will be at Jones Magnet Middle School, 1819 Nickerson Blvd. The shuttle hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Sundays. There will be a drop-off point after the shuttle leaves the school at Buckroe Avenue and the beachfront.

The shuttle is expected to make the loop from the school to the beach and back about every 25 minutes. Signs will provide direction to the overflow parking area, and the identify shuttle stop. Large groups or those with bulky chairs and coolers are encouraged to drop gear and guests at the beach and have the driver use the shuttle after parking the car at the school. Quick reminder: alcoholic beverages are not permitted at city parks, and dogs are not allowed in the park during the summer season.
