June 13, 2018 - City Council today honored retiring City Attorney Vanessa Valldejuli and Assistant City Manager James "Pete" Peterson and commended them for their commitment to Hampton and its citizens.
The resolutions noted:
- Valldejuli has been city attorney for four years and worked in other capacities in the city attorney's office in Hampton and other localities. She was cited for her expertise in land use, zoning, real estate and economic development.
- Peterson's 34 years of service with the city, first as finance director and then as assistant city manager. It also noted his long history of serving on various boards, including the Finance Committee, the Neighborhood Commission, the Virginia Air and Space Center board, the downtown and Coliseum Central business district boards, two community development authorities, the Planning Commission, and many more.
