[ARCHIVED] Virginia sales tax holiday lets you buy school, emergency supplies without paying sales tax

July 9, 2018 - Starting Aug. 3 and ending Aug. 5, Virginia's sales tax holiday gives you the chance to buy school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items and Energy Star products without paying the sales tax.

It's a chance for parents to buy their back-to-school clothes for their kids and for everyone to get prepared for the next storm or emergency. It's also a chance for you to start creating your family emergency kit. 

Eligible items include batteries, flashlights, radios, chain saws, portable generators, fire extinguishers and more. You can go online for a complete list of what's eliglble and what's not.
