July 30, 2018 - The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a flood advisory for Hampton and surrounding areas until 5:15 p.m. Monday. Rainfall of one to two inches, with locally higher levels of up to three inches possible. The advisory covers Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Franklin, Smithfield, Gloucester Courthouse, Langley Air Force Base and other areas in Hampton Roads.

A flood advisory means rivers or streams are elevated or water is likely to pond in some areas. The Emergency Management Office encourages residents to avoid driving through flooded roads. Residents are also encouraged to monitor local news reports for the latest information. Emergency Management will continue monitoring weather conditions.
