[ARCHIVED] Police, sheriff, others sponsoring 'get fit' family day at Y.H. Thomas

Aug. 3, 2018 - Hampton police, the sheriff's office, commonwealth's attorneys office and the local NAACP are sponsoring a back to school "Healthy 'get fit' Family Day" on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center, 1300 Thomas St.

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. families can get free school supplies, free haircuts and health screenings, play games, visit a job and resource fair and much more, including food.

 More than a dozen local businesses or organizations are also supporting family day, including The Hampton and Newport News Community Services Board, Celebrate Healthcare, BB&T bank and the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute.
