adopt-newsflash

Oct. 23, 2018 - The holidays are approaching and Hampton's Adopt an Airman program is in urgent need of hosts and host families to provide a much-needed home away from home for young men and women in the Air Force.  Adopt an Airman provides them with an avenue to form new friendships in the local community and to gather support beyond the formal work environment.

As a host family, you can provide a home-away-from-home during an Airman’s first years at Langley Air Force Base. The hosts serves as the airman’s mentor, friend, and advisor, providing a caring environment to relax away from the pressures of work and future deployments. The host is also in the position to serve as a positive adult role model in helping Airmen understand their role in the Air Force and reinforce positive social values.

The program attempts to match host families with airmen who share the same basic interests and characteristics, whether it be sports, outdoors, religion, and other activities. The program has helped more than 140 airmen since it was started.
