Groovin’ by the Bay Litter- Free Event Cleanups, May 26 – September 1, Sundays, 5pm – 8pm, Buckroe Beach Park, 100 S 1st St, Hampton. April Adopt-A-Spot & Special Cleanups: 116 cleanups, 814 volunteers, 1460 hours, 676 bags of trash, and 23,857 cigarette butts. This means that volunteers picked up nearly 7 tons of trash, which kept nearly 6 tons out of our waterways (80 percent of the trash on land ends up in waterways). In addition, by removing those cigarette butts, volunteers prevented the pollution of almost 48,000 gallons of water – that’s 596 bathtubs full of water…
