[ARCHIVED] City manager's message: Showing our support for Virginia Beach- WEAR BLUE MONDAY

Downtown Hampton Waterfront copy

City manager Mary Bunting's message to employees Sunday:

Those of you with an active social media presence may have noted that there are plans across the region to wear BLUE to work and school on Monday as part of a regional show of support for our Virginia Beach colleagues.

As I noted Friday, we are all a part of the same public service family. Indeed some of our employees personally knew victims of Friday’s horrific attack. There is little we can do to provide comfort to the pain of those who lost family, friends and colleagues, but we can visibly show our care and concern by wearing blue during this day of solidarity. Therefore, if you are able, I encourage you to dress in blue.

Like other cities throughout the region, we will arrange group pictures to share with the Beach. Please join us at either 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., in front of City Hall. We will all take photos at various work locations throughout the City for those who are unable to join us in front of City Hall due to work demands. We want to show as much support as possible. I am sure it will mean a lot to the entire Virginia Beach community to see the love and support from throughout our region.

Mary
