July 31, 2019 - The Housing and Neighborhood Services Division is looking for team leaders and other volunteers to help with the Extreme Home Repair Blitz scheduled for Sept. 28 in Wythe and surrounding areas.

A joint project with Newport News, the upcoming blitz is a chance for the elderly, disabled, veterans or low-income residents to get help making repairs to their homes. Team leaders are men and women who are skilled in carpentry, general construction and home repair, willing to spend 5-6 hours preparing for the Blitz and a day on the Blitz itself.

The Home Repair Blitz takes place twice a year. It is sponsored by the city, Habitat for Humanity and the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority, with support from various community groups and organizations.

All those interested in being a team leader should visit http://vhub.at/habitatpgw. To learn more about the blitz and Habitat for humanity, visit https://www.habitatpgw.org/home-repair-blitz.html.
