Sept. 30, 2019 - For the first time ever, all public schools in Hampton have been accredited – without conditions – by the State Department of Education. “Over the past four years, we have completely redesigned our instructional program and student progress monitoring data systems as we built from places of strength," said Jeffery Smith, Hampton City Schools superintendent. "I offer my congratulations and appreciation to our students, staff members, parents, and our community partners. It remains a pleasure to serve this community and to work alongside such dedicated individuals. We certainly have a lot to celebrate. We are one division with one transformation and our focus is that of continuous improvement as we maintain high expectations.”  Read the full city schools news release online. Virginia's superintendent of public instruction, James Lane, said Monday that 92% of public schools statewide are meeting the state Board of Education's expectations for achievement and improving student outcomes.
