[ARCHIVED] City, Langley plan public meeting Nov. 6 to discuss Armistead gate, flooding issues

Langley Air Force base and F-22

Oct. 30, 2019 - The City of Hampton and Joint Base Langley-Eustis will hold a public meeting at the Hampton Roads Convention Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 7-8 p.m., to provide the public with information about the potential relocation of the West Gate at Langley Air Force Base. The gate is on North Armistead Avenue. Other related activities that impact base requirements will also be discussed, including possible road closures, the flight approach areas, and recurring flooding issues. Staff from the base and the city - along with other key stakeholders such as the NASA Langley Research Center and nearby communities – will be available to answer questions. For more information, a 2018 study entitled “Hampton-Langley Air Force Base Joint Land Use Study Addendum: Resiliency and Adaptation” is available on the city website. That study includes a discussion of the environment, base boundaries, and access and transportation at the base. For more information on the meeting contact Bruce Sturk at bsturk@hampton.gov or call 757-727-6884.
