[ARCHIVED] Sheriff's Office, Bethel Law Enforcement Academy partner to prepare students

Bethel High School Academy of Law and Public Safety

Nov. 5, 2019 — The Hampton Sheriff’s Office and Bethel High School Academy of Law and Public Safety partnered for 2 weeks this summer to challenge students to create a curriculum for students planning for a career in law enforcement. Sheriff’s deputies made several school visits presenting the students with a firsthand account of the duties of a Correctional Officer in Hampton.

Student field trips included observing a full morning of cases at a Hampton Court, a Hampton Sheriff’s Office orientation hiring session and a visit to the Hampton Jail where deputies discussed the duties of a correctional officer. At course’s end, 6 teams made PowerPoint presentations to Hampton Undersheriff Col. K. Bowden with the information they gathered that would give students a course of study with valuable information that would prepare them for a law enforcement career.
