[ARCHIVED] Healthy Families joins city schools to provide books to children during pandemic

May 29, 2020 - Hampton Healthy Families partnered with Hampton City Schools recently for a book giveaway that provided 2,100 books to school children at the eight schools that have been distributing lunches to children during the current pandemic. Books were provided by the Mayor’s Book Club and several other donors. Schools is expected to use any leftover books for another giveaway this summer.

Healthy Families has also provided bags of books to children whose families are receiving weekly food bags at some local churches. Last week 30 bags with books, crayons and a Mayor’s book Club activity booklet, were distributed at First United Methodist Church of Fox Hill. Other giveaways are planned for the future.
