[ARCHIVED] Fire Division awarded by Peninsula EMS Council for outstanding achievements


July 24, 2020 - Hamptons Division of Fire and Rescue received several awards recently from The Peninsulas Emergency Medical Services Council Inc. The awards recognize the outstanding achievements and notable work of individuals, agencies, organizations and facilities who provide emergency medical services in the Peninsula, Middle Peninsula, and Northern Neck region. Hampton’s awards:

  • Outstanding EMS Agency: For creative efforts during the continuing pandemic that led to Peninsula agencies adopting city strategies, and for the city’s support to area hospitals for decontamination and safety strategies.
  • Outstanding Contribution to EMS Health and Safety: Battalion Chief Edward B. Cantwell for leading health and safety efforts and cancer prevention strategies.
  • Innovation Excellence in EMS: Peninsulas COVID-19 Operations Center (City of Hampton, City of Newport News, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, James City County, York County, Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital, Hampton VA Medical Center, Riverside Doctors Hospital of Williamsburg, Riverside Regional Medical Center, Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Navy Regional Mid-Atlantic, Hampton/Peninsula Health Districts, Peninsulas EMS Council.
