[ARCHIVED] Artist creates a new way to show off Hampton, featuring graphic icons of elements of the city

nf-black tee shirt

Aug. 13, 2020 - In Wednesday’s City Council meeting City Manager Mary Bunting unveiled a new design that spells out "HAMPTON" using graphic icons from around the city. Items sporting this image, part of the city’s new brand, are now available for the public to order.

Photos of T-shirts with the design have been popping up on social media. A limited number of shirts were printed and given to members of City Council and employees who attended a special event to learn more about the city. Many people commented on the photos, asking where they could get logo shirts.

Hampton worked with the Hampton History Museum Association, a non-profit entity that runs the gift shop and does fundraising to support exhibits and events, to create the virtual gift shop. Proceeds from the sale of items will go to the non-profit.

The online store offers shirts sized for men, women, children and babies. Other items for sale include cloth bags, masks and die-cut decals.

The icons are part of the city’s new  brand, which will be rolled out over the coming months. They were created by Graphic Artist Anne-Marie Dwyer in the city’s marketing department.
