vote-3-nf

Oct. 23, 2020 - Whether it's voting by absentee ballot, voting early, or going to the polls on Election Day, registered voters in Hampton have a variety of ways to cast their ballots during the 2020 presidential election. Options have been expanded to ensure that voters feel safe from the risks of COVID-19 and have access to vote no matter when or how they choose to do so.

You can go online to download and print a single sheet of election information. Share this voting guide with your friends and neighbors.

Key points to remember:

If you have an absentee ballot, closely follow the directions to ensure you are correctly filling it out. (Note, however, that a witness signature is not required due to COVID-19.) You can mail your ballot to: Voter Registrar, 1919 Commerce Drive Suite 280, Hampton, VA., 23666. Make sure it's postmarked no later than Nov. 3. You can also drop off your ballot at the Registrar’s Office at 1919 Commerce Drive, or the satellite office at 101 Kings Way, during business hours before Election Day.

If you're voting in person, bring an ID with you. And you can bring your own black ballpoint pen. COVID-19 precautions, included masking and social distancing, will be observed. Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. on Election Day, and anyone in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

State and federal laws protect voters against intimidation or harassment. People campaigning must be at least 40 feet from the entrance of the precinct, and loudspeakers must be 300 feet away. Three-quarters of the city’s polling places are schools, and it is illegal to bring guns on school property, even on Election Day.

If you still have questions, call the Registrar’s Office at 757-727-6218 or visit www.hampton.gov/voter.
