Nov. 10, 2020 - A presentation on the improvements at War Memorial Stadium is on the agenda for City Council on Thursday, Nov. 12. Council will first tour the remodeled stadium at 9 a.m. The presentation and discussion about the stadium’s uses for tournaments and attracting visitors will follow at the 1 p.m. work session.

The council will also review first-quarter city revenues, discuss legislation it will support for the General Assembly session, and hear a presentation from the Risk Management department.

In the evening meeting at 6:30 p.m., Council is set to discuss and adopt new zoning related to the use of “small cell” wireless infrastructure. The smaller towers boost coverage and speed cell phone service. Council is also scheduled to:

  • Hold a public hearing related to Community Development Block Grants;
  • Consider a rezoning at 210 W. Mercury Blvd.;
  • Hold another public hearing to continue with localized extra business taxes that support the Coliseum and Phoebus business districts.

 City Council will hold its work session at 1 p.m. and its evening business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be in Council Chambers on the 8th floor of Hampton City Hall at 22 Lincoln St. Meetings are open to the public and will be televised on the Hampton Channel (Cox Channel 47 and Verizon Fios Channel 22) and streamed at hampton.gov/livetv.
