Aug. 18, 2021 — Residents can participate in the International Coastal Cleanup from Sept. 1-Oct. 31 by registering to clean up a location of their choosing. The Hampton Clean City Commission is encouraging residents to take part in the long-running international cleanup effort.

For more than 30 years, the International Coastal Cleanup has been rallying communities with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastlines. Since the cleanup started, millions of volunteers worldwide have collected more than 340 million pounds of trash.

Cleanup equipment — like litter sticks, safety vests, gloves, and trash bags – are available for those in Hampton who do not have their own equipment. Register online or go to  for the registration link and more information under the Quick Links tab.

For more information, volunteers can also contact Cris Ausink at or call 757-727-1158.
