[ARCHIVED] Byrne Formula Grant - Notice of Citizen Comment



The City of Hampton is applying for $47,317.00 from the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ), Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) authorized through the FY 2022 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Formula Program, 42 U.S.C. 3751 (a). This grant program is based on a federal statutory formula using population and violent crime statistics and is divided between the state and local governments. The following information is provided in accordance with the solicitation requirements. The final application is to be submitted to BJA on or before August 8, 2022.


The City of Hampton Police Division intends to use the funding provided by this grant for the purpose of replacing/upgrading the Police Division’s Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) and associated hardware, in accordance with Byrne Statutory Program Area of Technology Improvement. Many existing MDTs are reaching the end of service life and these grant funds will be utilized to replace those units with more technologically up-to-date MDTs.
