Poll workers needed to staff precincts on Election Day

Aug. 31, 2022 - The Hampton Voter Registrar’s Office is looking for dedicated people to serve the democratic process by serving as election officials on Election Day.

The polls open on Election Day at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.; however, election officials have to be on site from 5 a.m. until the election results have been reported (about 9 p.m.) so it's a long day. However, whenever possible you will be placed in your "home" precinct or the precinct of your choice, so officials will likely see people they know. And you get paid $125.

Election officials must be 18 and older, U.S. citizens, and residents and qualified voters of the Commonwealth of Virginia. People who hold elected office and their staff are not eligible. You must attend a three-hour training session.
