[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Weather cancellations and postponements in Hampton

Closings & Cancellations

Oct. 3 – The forecast of severe weather related to Tropical Storm Ian has led to the cancellation or postponement of several events in Hampton this weekend.

  • All city of Hampton schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 3, for students and staff due to inclement weather. This includes after-school & evening activities.
  • City Hall will close to the public at noon on Monday. Business can still be conducted at hampton.gov.  All city facilities, including libraries as well as neighborhood and community centers.
  • The city's court complex will close at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
  • The SLANDER show at Hampton Coliseum has been rescheduled to March 2023; learn more by visiting https://www.hamptoncoliseum.org/events/detail/slander-the-thrive-tour.
  • The Hampton History Museum has canceled its program "The Witching of the Virginia Midwife" this evening.
  • The James T. Wilson Fishing Pier will close each night at 6 p.m. and reopen at 7 a.m. until further notice.
  •  The inaugural Virginia Peninsula Community College Community Day 5K scheduled for Saturday along the Mattison Trail has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8.
  •  Boat rentals at Sandy Bottom Nature Park will be shut down until conditions are safer.
  • HRT bus services are currently operating on their regular schedule, but due to possible flooding, customers are advised to expect delays and impromptu detours. Updated information will be made available on local news services, online at gohrt.com or via Customer Service.
