Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 — Air Power Park, the roadside museum that celebrates Hampton's history in aviation and space exploration, will close its grounds to the public on Monday, Nov. 21, to accommodate work on a revitalization project. The park is expected to remain closed until May of next year.
The grounds and the waterfront will be closed to the public, but the indoor section of the museum will remain open. The public will still have access to the Waterwalk Trail adjacent to the park, though it may be closed briefly during the process for safety reasons.
This phase of the revitalization project will address the problem of tidal and freshwater flooding. The park will be regraded, and a retaining bulkhead will be installed along Newmarket Creek.
