Jan. 30, 2023 - Community members working on the city's future plans have hit the halfway point. They need your input on whether they are going in the right direction or need a course correction.

Volunteers from all sectors of Hampton have drafted goals and visions for the city's future. They will present them at a community meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and gather input.

The community plan, Hampton 2040, has teams working in the city's seven strategic areas: education, economic development, family resilience and economic empowerment, being a safe and clean community, placemaking, excellence in government, and living with the water.

Each group will share the values and goals it has created. After that presentation, you are invited to visit one or more of the groups to offer input or ask questions.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the new Mary W. Jackson Neighborhood Center, 231 Lincoln St. Registration is recommended: hampton.gov/checkpointmeeting or call 757-727-8311. You can also learn more about the plan and progress at hampton.gov/Hampton2040. After the vision and goals are set, the groups will work to draft lists strategic actions and measurements toward progress on each goal.
