The Hampton City Schools Fine Arts Department presents the FREE series in conjunction with Arts for Learning, the Virginia Affiliate of Young Audiences. School-age children and families can interact with musicians, artists, actors, storytellers, dancers, and more. Each weekend has new programming! With the support of the Hampton History Museum and Downtown Hampton Development Partnership, the series will be held on three Saturdays in July. Museum admission will be free all day, 9 am-5 pm.
Here are just some of the highlights!
Learn traditional dances from around the world with Rita Cohen; explore techniques that help actors create unforgettable characters with Katherine Willet; and listen to musical instruments from different cultures and continents with Curtis Blues.
Be amazed by the tricks of magician Harold Wood and his carrot-eating sidekick; create your own personal stories through poetry with Stephanie Lask; and experience the thunderous rhythms of Japanese taiko drums with Taikoza.
Learn an energetic traditional Filipino dance with Jackie Adonis; explore the legends of Mount Everest through dance and music with Utpalasia; and listen as actor Valerie Davis brings to life the heroic story of abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
