[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Mugler Bridge to Fort Monroe remains closed for repairs

Nov. 9, 2023 - The Mugler Bridge between Phoebus and Fort Monroe will remain closed for closed for a couple more weeks due to construction delays.

The concrete should be poured at the end of this week, but  has to cure before new lights can be installed.

Detour signs will advise motorists to use the bridge from Fort Monroe to East Mercury Boulevard.

Oct. 27, 2023 - The Mugler Bridge on Mellen Street that connects Phoebus to Fort Monroe will close to cars and pedestrians beginning the morning of Monday, Oct. 30. It needs emergency lighting and related structural foundation replacements.  The work is expected to take about two weeks. In the meantime, detour signs will advise motorists to use the bridge from Fort Monroe to East Mercury Boulevard, which is called  Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Bridge in honor of Frank Baker, Shepherd Mallory and James Townsend.
