NekoCon

"Ain't No Party Like a Catsby Party, says the Nekocon website. The Hampton Roads Convention Center welcomes back NekoCon, a convention celebrating Japanese and anime culture, with an emphasis on cats ("neko" in Japanese). The event features cosplay, LARP (live-action-role-playing), gaming, special guests, theme panels and more. Members are welcome to attend various panels and workshops, purchase merchandise in the dealers room, and be a part of main attractions like karaoke contests, art shows, and nightly dances.

Celebrate Healthcare holds Covid-19 vaccination, testing clinics

Celebrate Healthcare will host three free clinics Friday and Saturday on the Peninsula where adults and children (ages 5-11) can get Covid-19 vaccinations. The clinics will also offer rapid Covid-19 testing and open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace. The events will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple, 3100 Butternut Drive in Hampton; from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5405 Roanoke Ave. in Newport News; and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Boo Williams Sportsplex, 5 Armistead Pointe Parkway in Hampton. Disney On Ice presents 'Mickey and Friends'

Disney on Ice brings its classic "Mickey and Friends" show to the Hampton Coliseum for seven performances this week. Mickey and Minnie and Donald Duck will be there, but also lots of beloved characters from Disney films, and a set of songs that you and your kids will know by heart. The schedule includes three evening shows and four morning and afternoon matinees. Check out the Coliseum's website for details.

Hampton Carousel

Take a Spin Back in Time! Located in Carousel Park and operated by the Hampton History Museum, the former Buckroe Beach carousel is one of the City of Hampton’s most treasured historic assets. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion at Carousel Park on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S. Hand crafted by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton's Carousel is a whirling tribute to the skill of its creators. The Hampton Carousel will operate under federal, state and City of Hampton COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks when inside the carousel building, practice social distancing, and use hand-sanitizer before and after rides.
