    Hampton Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services offers a way for families to celebrate the holidays in a socially distanced, safer environment under COVID-19 conditions, with the “Holiday Wonder Walk” along Hampton’s Water Walk Trail. There is no admission fee, all activities are free, and free parking is available at the Hampton Coliseum. With the lifting of certain COVID restrictions this year, also featured will be live entertainment, food vendors, merchandise vendors, exhibitors, strolling characters, and kid’s activity stations.

    Three pilot projects to increase water storage and improve connectivity in the Newmarket Creek watershed — the Big Bethel Blueway, Lake Hampton and North Armistead Avenue — are more than half way through the project design phase. Construction on these projects is scheduled to begin in spring 2022. To get public feedback on the projects, and learn more about the Blueway, in-person hours with city staff are scheduled with city staff at the West Hampton Community Center for Monday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; and Thursday, Dec. 16, from noon to 2 p.m.
