    As long as humans have gone to sea in ships, the potential for danger awaits them. Early seafarers had many myths and lore as to what – or who – was responsible for a ship’s demise, including the alluring siren. Today, we know that there are many reasons which may cause a ship to wreck. Erika Cosme from the Mariner’s Museum takes a look at the early connection of sirens luring ships to their death, while examining modern causes for shipwrecks at sea.

    Fun is about to roll into your neighborhood! Starting in July, the Rec ‘n’ Roll Scuttle Bus will take to the streets to bring recreational activities to your neighborhood. The Scuttle Bus is loaded to the top with recreation equipment and games. The Rec ‘n’ Roll Scuttle Bus offers fun for children ages 5- 12, but is inclusive and open to all age groups. The Rec ‘n’ Roll Scuttle Bus will operate 2 days a week and visit one park each day, weather permitting. Current health guidelines will be followed during the program. No registration is required

With more than 124 miles of navigable shorelines, sea level rise and expanding floodplains are expected create a drastic change in our City’s land mass over the century to come. With this in mind: can we be active participants in shaping how we experience this change? What would that look like?
