This program operates September through June during the school year at Fort Monroe Community Center, Northampton Community Center, and West Hampton Community Center. The program provides a safe atmosphere for its participants and provides recreational activities, academic enrichment, homework help, and more.

Senior Computer Class

This course gives an introduction to Microsoft - Word, Excel, and more! Other information regarding graphic design is also discussed. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of every 10 week session!

After the Clock Strikes 2

After the Clock Strikes 2 offers children a safe, supportive and well structured environment Monday through Friday. Activities provide quality educational, recreation, and cultural experiences that promote physical, intellectual, and emotional development. After the Clock Strikes 2 youth receive homework help, participate in fitness activities and explore arts & cultural opportunities.

Basic & Therapeutic Taekwondo

Taekwondo is an art of self-defense that originated in Korea. This form of martial arts involves punching and kicking techniques. The Basic Taekwondo Class develops physical fitness as well as builds self confidence. The therapeutic Taekwondo Class is taught with accommodations. Students in this class advance at their own pace and learning forms. Both classes are designed for adults to children as young as 5 years old.

Teetotalers and Moonshiners, and Hampton’s Prohibition Story

The exhibit combines content from the Virginia Library’s 2017 exhibit “Teetotalers and Moonshiners: Virginia’s Prohibition Experiment” with research and artifacts from the Hampton History Museum on the local experience. "Hampton's Prohibition Story" features myriad items to tell the story, including dozens of photographs; numerous bottles, jugs and other containers; games, smoking accoutrements, beverage dispenser, signs and materials of saloon culture; service ware, promotional items and memorabilia from Point Comfort resorts, Phoebus police and fire department items, doctor bag and instruments; and moonshine still components on loan from the Museum of the Albemarle. The exhibit continues through February 4, 2024.

Kids First - Court mandated 4-hour class - Wednesday

This 4 hour workshop provides information that can help parents understand what their children experience when their lives are reorganized by divorce, separation and family conflict. It will guide parents in making informed decisions about parenting plans as they transform their relationship from couple to co-parents. (Satisfies Virginia Legislative requirements for child custody and visitation disputes)

24/7 Nurturing Dads

TACKLING OUR TOUGHEST TASKS TO BECOME THE NURTURING DADS WE ARE CALLED ON TO BE. A 12-week parenting program for Dads to increase knowledge and practice key skills to help their children grow up to be smart, strong, self-reliant and caring.

Special Olympics Track & Field

Hampton Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services is teaming up with Special Olympics Virginia to host track & field meets for individuals ages 8-22 with disabilities for the track & field season. Participation includes individual and team play, competing in local, regional, and state games.
